Adult Album Alternative (AAA) is a spinoff from the Rock and Alternative Rock formats, its roots trace back to Progressive Rock radio in the 60s and 70s. AAA has a broader, more diverse playlist than most formats and as the name indicates tends to appeal more to adults than youth. The musical selection is on the fringe of mainstream pop and rock as well as indie music, alternative rock, alternative country, jazz, folk, world music and blues. AAA artists include: Dave Mathews, Coldplay, Black Keys, U2, John Mayer, Adele, Mumford & Sons, Jack Johnson and Sheryl Crow.
